A statutory body under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India, sustainable development and equitable utilization of the Brahmaputra River's water resources through effective regulation and development within the Inter-State Brahmaputra & Barak River Valley. Jurisdiction includes both the Brahmaputra and Barak Valleys and covers all the states of the North Eastern Region, including Sikkim and West Bengal.
